To that end, e2Taxi will participate in an array of programs that help reduce carbon into the earth's atmosphere. These include tree planting programs and purchasing carbon credits to offset vehicle emissions. This allows the customers to help replenish the planet's habitat simply by riding in e2Taxi vehicles. In addition, customers may choose to join e2Taxi efforts by donating to purchase carbon credits, over and above e2Taxi's commitment.
The e2Taxi fleet is comprised of environmentally friendly vehicles that will be replaced at the end of their useful life. The fleet is divided between two types of vehicles, hybrid and accessible.
The typical taxi fleet is based on carbon-emitting combustion engines which pollute the environment. Taxi companies staff their fleet with used police cars or other used vehicles which are then painted and refurbished. While this may be cost effective for the taxi company, it does not necessarily provide the best benefit to the customer or the environment.
The e2Taxi hybrid vehicle is the Toyota Prius which averages 45 miles per gallon in the city and 50 on the highway. It comfortably accommodates 4 passengers and has 21.6 cubic feet of cargo space. The other vehicle, the MV1, is purpose-built for accessibility. In addition to accommodating a wheel-chair passenger, the MV1 provides seating for 4 passengers, operates on gasoline or compressed natural gas. The MV1 has 36.4/29.1 feet of cargo space for gasoline and compressed natural gas respectively.
